Yeast Infections, How Long Should They Last

Posted by ctp5182 On September - 21 - 2011ADD COMMENTS

Many women, especially women who are suffering from their first yeast infection ask, how long should a yeast infection last? The women who also ask this question fall into another category, and they’re the women who are having trouble curing their yeast infection. Which category do you fall into? And would you like to know the answer?

Many women who are suffering from their first yeast infection want to know how long it will last because yeast infections are not very pleasant to have. The sooner that they’re dealt with, the better off you are.

Then you have the women, who, having their first yeast infection, want to know how long the infection will last without applying any treatment. I’ll tell you now, they all need treating, and that’s as soon as possible.

The time frame of a yeast infection will be different for everyone. The cause of your yeast infection, and where you have your yeast infection will determine how long it will take to cure yourself.

If your yeast infection is a vaginal yeast infection that has been caused by stress then it will be cured within a few days. This type of yeast infection can easily be cured with a natural treatment such as a tampon dipped in live yogurt then inserted into your vagina. It will also help if your stress has gone.

A more severe yeast infection that has been caused by continual use of antibiotics will take a lot longer to cure. This type of yeast infection is usually recurrent in your vagina, and could possibly have infected your intestines. An intestinal yeast infection can take months to cure depending on how long you’ve had the infection, and how long you have been taking the antibiotics.

An intestinal yeast infection/candidiasis will need to be cured from the inside of your body, and requires a complete diet change, and the use of natural anti fungals and probiotics.

If you’re suffering from your first yeast infection then the sooner you discover the cause the faster you will cure yourself. Nearly all women will go straight for a cure to ease their symptoms without even thinking about the cause. This can lead to poor health in the long term if your treatment doesn’t cure the cause as well as your symptoms.

Yeast Infection – Do you Have One?

Posted by ctp5182 On September - 2 - 2011ADD COMMENTS

What is a Yeast Infection?

Maybe you have never heard of it. Maybe you just discovered that you have one and you are wondering what are you suppose to do. The first step would be to better understand what you are up against. First don’t worry; a yeast infection is not a very serious condition although recurrent yeast infections can be a symptom of an underlying condition.

A yeast infection is a bacterial infection. They can occur due to various reasons.
Some of the most common ones are:

- Transference through sexual intercourse

- Steady Usage of antibiotics

- Wrong diet

There are other factors such as:

- Pregnancy

- Stress

- Wrong Clothing

- Hormonal Imbalance

- Use of Scented Feminine Hygiene products

- Douches

These are only the most commons reasons why yeast infections occur. Other less common factors can be the cause of a yeast infection. Factor such as:

- Weaken immune system

- Transmitted through sexual disease

- Prolonged contact with semen

You should know that even though a yeast infection can be transmitted sexually it is not considered a sexual transmitted disease.

What are The Symptoms?

The first thing you should do if you suspect you are suffering from yeast infection symptoms is to consult a physician just to rule out any other condition.

Here are some of the symptoms associated with yeast infections:

- intense itching

- rash

- burning sensation

- vaginal discharge

- pain during sexual intercourse

- swelling of the vulva

- redness around the affected area

- frequent urination

One of the most common sign of a yeast infection is the vaginal discharge. It often takes the form of a thin watery or milky substance. It can be egg white in appearance, firm and yellowish or it can have a cottage cheese-like texture.

There is often an odour associated with it. The odour tends to be acrid and pungent. Sometimes it can also be odourless in some cases.

How do you treat it?

Usually it can be treated with prescription medications and over the counter medication. There is also a wide variety of natural treatments that are extremely effective.

Keep in mind that there is always a chance that it can occur again. The best thing to do is to take preventive measures and always be aware that it can be transmitted through sexual intercourse with an infected partner.

In other words a Yeast infection if treated properly can be cured quite easily although in some cases it can take quite a bit longer. All you need to do is take the necessary precautions and preventive measures and you should be able to overcome it with little problems.

Natural Yeast Infection Cures

As you may know, the body generally contains yeast. However, when this yeast overgrows, yeast infections occur which are characterized by an off white discharge, itching, burning and painful urination. So what exactly causes this overgrowth of yeast in the body? We will discuss some of the common causes below.

Yeast overgrowth occurs in the body when the normal, friendly bacteria in the body are destroyed. We all need a certain amount of good bacteria in out bodies, but many times people unknowingly destroy this bacteria causing yeast.

One way that we destroy the friendly bacteria in the body is by taking antibiotics and other drugs. It is very common for those who take antibiotics regularly to experience yeast overgrowth. Antibiotics destroy all bacteria in the body, weather good or bad. So while it is important to get rid of bacteria that are making us ill, it is also important to replace the good bacteria that is being destroyed by the medication.

Women who take oral contraceptive pills are also at high risk for getting a yeast infection. Oral contraceptives can alter the regular hormonal balance in the body which can cause an overgrowth of yeast.

Excessively drinking alcohol can cause an overgrowth of yeast in the body as well. Beer in particular contains lots of yeast as it is used in the fermentation process. Alcohol is very acidic to the body and causes a major imbalance. Alcohol will destroy friendly bacteria as well. Those who consume lots of alcohol are at a much higher risk for contracting yeast infections compared to those who do not drink.

Douching is another practice that can cause yeast to grow out of control. Douching washes away the friendly bacteria in the vaginal area which leads to an overgrowth of yeast. Douching is not necessary as the vagina naturally cleanses itself internally. Women only need to cleanse the external area of the vagina with mild soap and water. Avoid douching if you want to avoid yeast infections.

Yeast infections can also be caused by engaging in unprotected sexual intercourse with someone who has a yeast infection. Many men contract penile yeast infections when they engage in unprotected sexual activity with a woman who has a yeast infection. This man can then spread the yeast infection to other women who he is sexually active with.

Finally, poor hygiene is a definite cause of yeast overgrowth. It is important to bath regularly and also dry out your private area thoroughly after bathing. Not properly bathing regularly will cause an infestation of microscopic bacteria in your body, particularly in areas that are prone to moisture such as the genital region. Proper hygiene is essential in preventing yeast infections.

As the saying goes, prevention is far much better than cure. So if it is at all possible to avoid yeast infections, then you should take note of these tips above in order to avoid ever contracting one.

Natural methods of stopping the overgrowth of yeast are excellent alternatives to over the counter remedies and prescription medications creams and lotions. Many are unaware, however, that there are natural ways to effectively stop the overgrowth of yeast in the body. We live in a society that is quick to use toxic drugs in order to treat ailments that can be cured naturally.

Before opting for prescribed medications, lotions and creams, it is best to seek a natural alternative treatment. You can, in fact, stop the growth of yeast using natural methods.

Natural Yeast Infection Cures

Yeast infection occurrences seem to be on the rise. Many people may think this condition is one that is limited mostly to women. But men, babies, and even the elderly suffer yeast infections. The symptoms these people suffer are also every bit as painful and annoying as they are for women.

Most people seek out or are prescribed an anti-fungal medication. These typically come in pill form or creams that are applied to the affected areas. Many women will also try antibiotic suppositories. These medication may works short term. But they carry the risk of side effects. They also only address the symptoms, not the underlying cause of yeast infections.

But what many people don’t realize is that there are natural remedies that treat current yeast infections just as well medications, if not better. They also carry no risk of side effects. But most importantly, they provide the means to permanently cure yeast infections.

Yeast Infection Defined

Yeast overgrowing in the body causes a yeast infection. Yeast in normally found on the skin, mouth, vagina, and penis. So, these are the areas where yeast infections occur.

Yeast Infection Causes

o High acid levels in the vagina typically keep yeast in check. However, this level can be decreased by menstruation, diabetes, use of birth control, and antibiotics. This creates an ideal environment for the yeast to colonize, multiply, and grow exponentially.

o Wearing clothes that trap heat and moisture can also bring on yeast infections. Synthetic fibers in nylons and underwear should be avoided for this reason. The heat and moisture provide another ideal environment for yeast infections to develop.

o Yeast infections have a lot to do with pH balance in the body. Yeast is a natural component of every body. When the acidic pH level of body is lowered, yeast infections can occur. The pH level is regulated by the body’s immune system. The most important factor for keeping your immune system in a healthy balance is eating a proper diet. 6.4 is the pH level of a healthy body. This is measured by examining either urine or saliva. The further you get away from the 6.4 level, either up or down, the greater the likelihood for disease and sickness such as yeast infection.

o One of the largest contributors to unbalanced pH levels is stress. Fatigue is another. Other factors that affect pH readings are obesity and the use of antibiotics and birth control.

Yeast Infection Treatments

o Eat plenty of yogurt. Or eat curds or drink milk that contains healthy bacteria known as acidophilus.

o Use tea tree oil, garlic, or grapefruit sections as a vaginal suppository. All of these contain powerful anti-fungal agents to get your yeast infection under control. They also provide relief for the symptoms.

o Colloidal silver is a mineral that is known for being effective in eliminating 100′s of diseases.

o Wash and dry thoroughly after showering.

o Wear loose clothing.

o Cut sugar out your diet as much as possible.

Yeast Infection Treatment Don’ts

There is quite a bit of information out there, so here is a list of what not to do. If you have heard otherwise with anything on this list, at least take my word of warning and do some further checking on your own.

o Don’t use Echinacea to treat the yeast infection. This may work well when taken orally for colds. But if taken vaginally, it will cause severe and painful burning.

o Don’t use baking soda. Baking soda’s high pH level will actually cause the yeast to grow more.

o Don’t douche. This decreases healthy and normal secretions from the vagina.

o Don’t use bleach! Bleach can severely burn and scar vaginal tissue.

If you have suffered more than a few yeast infections, it makes quite a bit of sense to try a more natural remedy. By understanding how yeast is actually formed and kept in check in your body, you are then able to uncover methods that will keep yourself in a state of healthy balance. This is the path that leads to a lifetime free of future yeast infections.

This means that they baby will have the contact of infection at a very vulnerable time when they are new to the world and their immunity very low.

If it is an infection of the diaper area, keeping the baby dry will help avoid infections. Also, do not allow a diaper to stay for too long before you change it and while you are removing it, you need to allow some fresh air on the baby’s bottom. Make sure you pay close attention to skin folds and if there is an infection, use mild anti fungal cream.

Natural Yeast Infection Cures

Yeast infections, although a common problem among adult women, can be bothersome and disrupt a woman’s life. These types of infections can develop when there is an overgrowth of Candida, a naturally developing yeast in the body. These infections most often occur in the vagina, with the most common symptoms including an itching or burning sensation in the vaginal area, a burning sensation when urinating, pain, and vaginal discharge that resembles cottage cheese.

A woman is considered to have a chronic yeast infection problem if she develops more than three infections in a six month period. Chronic yeast infections are very difficult to treat, as it is not usually as simple as a one time treatment. Women experiencing chronic infections often must rely on lifelong treatment and long term lifestyle changes in order to guard against future outbreaks.

For the most part, the vaginal tablets, creams and other products are equally effective, and the Nystatin medication is one of the most often prescribed. You are usually required to take the medication over the course of two weeks, but there are also non-prescription medicinal products if you do not want to go through your doctor. That includes Canesten and Monistat as two of the most familiar products for treating these types of infections. It is important while using these treatments to avoid using other vaginal medications, tampons, deodorants or douches as this can impact their effectiveness and possibly even cause irritation.

Once you find a treatment that works, your best bet is to stick with it. It can take a fair bit of trial and error before finding a treatment that works well for you. Also, there are certain preventative steps you can take to help guard yourself against future infections.

There are other tips which can help you treat an existing infection and also prevent these infections from returning. That includes urinating immediately after intercourse, changing bath soaps and body washes, wearing loose cotton underwear, and checking for underlying diseases such as AIDS and Chlamydia.

It is always best to talk to a doctor, especially with a recurrent condition. In most cases, a more serious underlying health condition is at play and in order to prevent these infections, you must treat the underlying condition first.

Dealing with chronic yeast infections is never fun, but at least you know there are effective treatment options you can use to relieve your symptoms and start feeling better. It is imperative to follow proper preventative steps if you have a chronic condition, otherwise you can end up with serious infections which are especially difficult to treat.

Yeast Infections

Yeast infection is caused by an overgrowth of the fungus Candida. This happens when there is a disturbance to the internal balance of microorganisms in the body. By recognizing symptoms and causes, we can better understand treatment and prevention.

Types of yeast infection

There are several different types of yeast infection. There are over twenty different species of Candida. Any part of the body that is warm and moist is a likely place for yeast to thrive. In babies, there is diaper rash and thrush.

What are the symptoms

Yeast infection is characterized by itching and burning, particularity at urination. Signs of a vaginal yeast infection are characterized by a white discharge that resembles cottage cheese. The over growth of yeast irritates the area around the vagina, and can be very painful.

Babies can have oral infection called thrush. White patches on the tongue or in the mouth characterize this. Thrush can cause extreme discomfort in babies, causing them to be restless and fretful. A baby that has thrush should see a doctor for an appropriate medication.

Babies and nursing mothers who are taking antibiotics are more susceptible to yeast problems

What causes yeast infection

Taking antibiotics can cause yeast infection by destroying good bacteria and allowing yeast to multiply. A good hot soak in the tub after a days work is a good way to unwind. Just be careful about putting certain bath products in your water. The perfumes in soaps and hygiene sprays, or toilet paper that is colored or scented can increase your risk of yeast infection.

Frequent douching will also destroy good bacteria and allow an overgrowth of yeast.

It is thought that stress and lack of sleep can also bring on a yeast attack.

Yeast infection seems to increase in frequency as we age.

Treatment

Under normal circumstances, yeast infection is not dangerous, even though at times it is very uncomfortable and painful. There are several different methods of treatment. There are antifungal medicines in the form of creams, as well as oral medications that are taken by mouth.

There are over the counter products that are quite effective. Drinking cranberry juice and eating yogurt are also good preventive measures.

Prevention

Chances are you can prevent or limit bouts of yeast infections by being aware of what things brings on an attack.

Avoid overuse of douches, scented hygiene products and wear loose cotton underwear that keeps your skin dry.

Change out of damp clothing as soon as possible. Tight panty hose, leotards and pants can cut off airflow. Limit the time you wear these as much as possible.

Learn to handle stress and get plenty of sleep.

If your yeast infection keeps coming back see your doctor. This could be a sign of a serious illness such as leukemia, diabetes, or some other disease.

Yeast Infection Cures

The market is flooded with supplements to cure yeast infection.

Yeast infections are more common than one could imagine and are not limited to the genital areas of one’s body. For some people their yeast infections can develop in the mouth, under the nails and in between folds of the skin. Also these types of infections can happen at any stage in a person’s life and is not something that women only have to deal with. In this article we look at a number natural easy to use cures for yeast infections which will also provide instant relief.

1. Plain Yogurt – There is a good bacteria in this food which contains properties that can help fight the yeast infection. One can either eat it to fight the infection from inside and so help to prevent further yeast from growing inside. Plus it can also be applied directly to the area where the infection has occurred.

However, if you intend to use these treatment to cure the yeast infection you have make sure that you use only plain natural yogurt. Any other variety of yogurt contains sugar which will help the infection by increasing the production of the yeast bacteria.

Also if you are applying the yogurt directly to the area infected then do not leave it on for any extended period of time as this can actually make the condition far worse. As soon as the itching has been relieved then immediately wipe off any excess yogurt otherwise if left in place moisture will be able to collect and the itching will intensify once more.

2. Garlic – As a home remedy this is one of the most effective of them all for curing yeast infections. If the infection is a vaginal one then inserting a clove of garlic into the vagina can offer relief every few hours. However, if you intend to use a garlic suppository then make sure that the ones you use only contain pure natural ingredients in them. It is the anti-fungal properties within the garlic that help to kill off the yeast.

However, if you don’t like the thought of inserting garlic then taking it in supplemental form or eating in its raw state is beneficial as well. But most people are worried about the way their breath will smell after eating garlic and this is why using pure natural garlic supplements is preferred.

3. Apple Cider Vinegar – This is a cure for yeast infections that again can be used both internally and externally. However, it is never recommended that one applies this particular treatment in its neat form directly to the area that is infected. Rather the best way is to add around a cup of it to a hot bath and then lie in the bath for a way.

4. Oil of Oregano – This is another very effective cure for yeast infections and should be taken daily according to the directions on the manufacturers packet. The best type of oil of oregano one should be using is that which a high level of carvacrol in it. This is the main ingredient in the oil that actually works of killing of the yeast which has resulted in the infection.

Yeast Infections

Reviewed here is Sarah Summer’s e-book on an “All Natural Yeast Infection Cure”

She talks about the following…

How dangerous some internet remedies recommendations for curing yeast infections can be. For instance, using Boric acid. This toxic substance is a poison and has caused deaths.

Summer explains what works, what is safe and what is effective in treating yeast infections. And she explains the dangers of other recommended treatments.

Summer will show you how to safely and permanently rid yourself of yeast infections without drugs

She explains the common symptoms of yeast infections and tells us that approximately 75% of the population suffer from yeast infections at some time in their lives.

She tells us that you can need to treat the root cause of yeast infections, not just the symptoms like creams do.

Summer explains that drug companies don’t want to promote natural cures since natural cures can not be patented by drug companies. These natural cures are not profitable for them. They do not spend money researching them and do not promote them. Drug companies are required by law to make a profit, and are not required by law to make drugs that help people.

This book is a definite thumbs-up. There are so many testimonials about this e-book about people being effectively treated for yeast infections. Here is just one of them…

“Last December, after months of taking over the counter yeast infection treatments (at my doctor’s orders), my crotch was raw and severely “burned”, resulting in some pretty intense symptoms.

I tried everything the drug store had to offer (which gave me 24 hours of diarrhea), and finally I persuaded my doctor to prescribe Diflucan. . . but nothing seemed to make a difference for more than a few days.

I was walking like a duck from the irritation…I needed a cure!

One Sunday afternoon I found your website. I read the testimonials, and almost paid the fee . . . but I was afraid it was some kind of rip-off deal and changed my mind.

Later, feeling miserable with the burning and itching, I decided to take the chance and bought the e-book.

I read it immediately as soon as I’d downloaded it and it seemed so simple but it made so much sense.

I immediately began following your instructions and I felt better within a few hours! In a few days I was so much better I could not believe it.

Well, that was a number of months ago now not only am I yeast infection free. I feel like a whole new person!

I have renewed energy and just feel 10 years younger.

I followed your advice and I am amazed. I am back to normal. I’m so glad I took the plunge and purchased your information.

I feel way better than those drugs ever made me feel. As I said, I’m back to normal, feeling the way I did 10 years ago.

Just wanted to say a heartfelt “Thanks!”
